What gets in the way

Three problems, and the tool for each

  1. Questions about integrity at trial

Opposing counsel asks whether the extraction was altered. The answer needs a record, not a recollection.

The answerDEVI ValidateThe examiner's PDF verification record lists each file, its hash and the result, and explains what a match can and cannot mean.
  2. A provider return your examiner has to open

Apple returns arrive encrypted. The office needs to know the decrypted copy came from the file the provider produced.

The answerDEVI DecryptRecords the SHA-256 of the encrypted file and of the decrypted output, so the copy traces back to the original.
  3. Knowing which provider page to use

Preservation, emergency and legal-process pages differ by company and move without notice.

The answerDEVI RegistryEach app lists its preservation, emergency and legal-process pages, with the date each one was last checked.

Plain about the limits

What DEVI does not claim

Every tool states what it does and what it does not do, so the record holds up when someone asks.

For this work
  • Nothing on this site is legal advice, and nothing here says a result will be admitted.
  • DEVI is independent. It is not affiliated with, sponsored, or endorsed by any employer, agency, or vendor.
